Yes, 3G services will work both in Prepaid & Postpaid connections.
What are the prerequisites of 3G high speed data?
3G can be experienced as long the subscriber has opted in for a 3G
data pack over a 3G compatible mobile handset or dongle and within 3G
coverage areas.
Do I need a separate SIM card to use 3G services?
No, your existing SIM card should work and connect
you to Grameenphone 3G network. You will be able to seamlessly latch on
to our 3G network as long as your handset is 3G capable. However if you
want to avail the 3G data experience, you will need to subscribe to any
of the 3G value packs.
Do I have a separate helpline number to call for 3G service queries & complaints?
No, you need to call the existing Grameenphone customer care number for all queries regarding 3G.
Do I need a separate handset to use 3G services?
Yes, in order to use 3G services you need to have a
handset which is compatible with Grameenphone 3G network. Please note
that Different 3G handsets have different speed capabilities, and as
such, we recommend that you use an HSPA enabled handset for the best
experience.
How would I know if my handset is 3G compatible or not?
When you will be within Grameenphone 3G coverage area
& if your handset displays “3G” or “H” on the top of the screen
next to the network signal bars, it means that your phone is 3G
compatible & you can starting using 3G services. You must also
ensure that the phone settings are not set to ‘2G only’, alternately you
can also check on your handset manufacturer website or
www.grameenphone.com to confirm the capabilities.
If I need a new 3G phone then do I need to purchase it only from Grameenphone or any open market handset will also work fine?
It is not necessary to purchase a 3G device only from Grameenphone,
you can buy one from the open handset market but ensure that it is 3G
HSPA or HSPA+ compatible so that you can access fast 3G speeds as
offered by Grameenphone.
Do I need to configure any special settings on my phone to use 3G?
Grameenphone 3G will not require any additional configuration on your
device, our standard data configuration (Internet settings) will be
enough to access 3G, as long as you subscribe to a 3G data pack. If you
need further assistance please contact our call centre.

GP will have separate 3G packs at higher speed tiers.
If you use any of our current 2G packs, you will need to subscribe to a
3G pack (via USSD/sms) and then enjoy the 3G experience. During upgrade
to 3G all your remaining 2G volume will be added to the new 3G Pack
only in case of Volume based packs.
Do I need a specific type of handset for making a video call or can I use my existing 3G compatible device?
In order to make a video call, it is necessary that your handset has a
camera on the front side of the phone and supports 3G video call.
Please ask your retailer before you purchase a new 3G handset whether it
supports making 3G video calls.
How much data usage do I consume when I make a 3G video call?
3G video calls will not use data channels on
Grameenphone 3G network but accesses voice channels therefore you will
not be consuming any data usage but get billed according to the number
of minutes spoken multiplied by the rate per minute. The rate of video
call will be communicated during the time of launch.
What are the charges to be paid for making a 3G video call?
The charges will be on a per minute basis and will be communicated at the time of the launch.
Can I make a 3G video call to other operator customer having a 3G phone & 3G service of other operator?
No, at this point 3G video calls will be only on-net or within Grameenphone subscribers.
Is it necessary for both the parties to have a 3G phone to make & receive 3G video calls?
Yes, it is necessary for both the parties to have a 3G phone with
dual camera which supports 3G video calling & both the phones are
connected to Grameenphone 3G network.
What is a 3G data card / USB dongles?
3G Data cards/ USB dongles are modems that support 2100 MHz band.

Grameenphone will be launching 3G services across Bangladesh
gradually. However as each area, city, district comes under coverage it
will be notified via our website and on ground activities.
What happens when I move from 3G to 2G network?
When a user will move from 3G to 2G network then all
the service supported on Grameenphone 3G network like video call, high
speed internet access, etc will not be available, the user will get all
basic 2G service like what he gets now. The mobility will be seamless
but as you move out of 3G coverage area you will fall back on 2G
coverage without disrupting your data or voice session. However in case
of data the speeds will also fall back to 2G speeds.
How much do I pay for 3G services?
Tariffs will be communicated at the time of launch; we can assure our valued subscribers that our tariffs will be competitive.
Will my existing GP data modem work on 3G?
If you have purchased the GP data modem after February 2010, then it is already 3G capable.

How do I know that I am receiving a Video Call?
The phone will indicate that is an incoming Video Call.
If a caller attempts to place a video call to another video
subscriber who is unable to receive the video call due to NON 3G
subscriber (logged in 2G able to receive calls) , hence what will be
the response the dialed person get?
The 3G video call will not go through.
